[Hike] Mt. Woodson Peak - Poway, CA

Hiked Mt. Woodson from Lake Poway on Feb 9th, 2008. This is the longer and more strenuous way to reach the peak (the easier way is from the Hwy 67 staging area). The total round trip distance is about 6.5 miles and an elevation gain of about 2000ft.

Thanks for stopping by. I am not sure I understand what you say. The link you sent is broken too.

It's about time you did this hike!
Lake Ramona, seen in your 5th picture (Mt_Woodsen+037.jpg), is a good hike as well. BTW: the correct spelling is: Mt. Woodson.

Hey Anonymous,

Thanks for the comments and for stopping by. Seems like I know you (JT?). BTW, I think it is "Woodsen"

Let's see how it's spelled on the sign.

I stand corrected :). Although, this did lend itself to an interesting google experiment!

Hey Anil, I'm taking my husband out for a sunrise hike tomorrow morning and wondering what you thought about Mt. Woodson or if you had other recommendations. We're amateurs. Thanks!

Hey Anita,

Mt. Woodson is a great hike. There's two ways to go up, I definitely recommend the trail that starts out at lake poway. I think it is a medium difficulty for someone in decent shape. Worst case, even if you don't make it all the way to te top, the views of lake poway from some height are also pretty nice.

You might also want to try Iron Mountain and the Cuyamaca/ Laguna area (you should find the hikes in my hike list).

Have fun!
