This was my first time above 14,000 feet and it was spectacular! - We camped at
Cottonwood Lakes (11.5K ft) the night before to acclimatize and then hiked up to the summit (14,042ft) the following day, with our day pack. Headed back by late afternoon and backpacked back to the Horseshoe Meadows trainleah(8.5K ft). Nice rocks and ice on the way up and spectacular views from the top (including other 14'ers like Mt. Whitney - that I hope to summit one day!) ...
